This Kerala Couple Quit Their Jobs to Travel India & Plant 10,000 Trees

What happens when you choose the road over routine?
For Sangeeth and Kavya, a couple from Kerala, life changed the moment they stepped away from their jobs and stepped into nature. Just 15 days after their wedding, they packed their bags, took their dog Drogo, and began an unforgettable journey across India. Over the next 1.5 years, they covered more than 45,000 kilometers and planted 10,000 saplings—all while living out of their SUV.

They weren’t just exploring. They were creating change.
Back in Bengaluru, Sangeeth worked in marketing, and Kavya was a dairy technologist. But their weekend camping trips made them realize they wanted more from life—more connection, more freedom, and less clutter. So, they turned their Force Gurkha into a home on wheels. It took them just ₹20,000 to set up a bed, kitchen, and basic storage.

Their life on the road began.
What makes their story truly inspiring is how they live—simple, honest, and eco-friendly. They haven’t eaten out in over two years. Every meal is cooked by them, reducing waste and avoiding plastic. Their daily expenses? Just ₹200 to ₹300.

They don’t treat sustainability as a trend. It’s their way of life.
Travelling with Drogo made their journey even more special. He became their family on wheels, their protector during wild animal encounters, and their constant source of joy. Together, the trio explored remote villages and untouched places where few dare to go.
As they travelled through these hidden parts of India, they saw the harsh effects of climate change—dry rivers, scorching summers, and dying greenery. That’s when they made a promise to themselves: to plant 10,000 trees across India.

And they did it.
Now, their mission is bigger. They want to plant 1 lakh saplings in the next five years.
Every place they visit teaches them something new. They meet strangers who welcome them like family. They camp under stars, cook on mountain slopes, and collect memories that no luxury hotel can offer.

Their favourite place?
Madhya Pradesh for its warm people and raw beauty. One night, while camping, villagers thought they were celebrities and gathered around just to meet them. That’s the magic of real India.

Of course, it’s not always easy. Kavya shares the challenges of finding safe bathrooms or facing stares in unknown places. They’ve even had leopards come near their tent. But still, they go on—because they believe the road is their best teacher.

Their Instagram page @lifeonroads_ has become a source of inspiration for thousands. But they say it’s not about likes or fame. It’s about reminding people that happiness doesn’t lie in things—it lies in experiences.

They aren’t chasing money. They’re collecting stories, learning every day, and planting hope—one tree at a time.

So the question is:
What do you want to collect—money or memories?
